Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl - Maryland vs Tennessee

2002 marked The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl’s 35th anniversary, making it the ninth-oldest bowl game in the history of college football. We created this game opener broadcast on ESPN to celebrate and reflect on the bowl’s reputation for close, competitive games. The Peach Bowl marketing office supplied us with previous years’ game footage and advertorial media. We selected the most premier moments to highlight the history of the bowl and bring viewers through three and one half decades of memorable plays. This twenty-second football game open set the tone in a 7:30 PM primetime broadcast on New Year’s Eve.

Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award

The Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award is to honor the Bowl Championship Series college football coach whose programs represent quality on and off of the field. The Chick-fil-A Bowl presents this prestigious Dodd Trophy each year to a coach who closely emulates the principles espoused by Coach Bobby Dodd throughout his lifetime.

In efforts to gain recognition of this prestigious award, we scripted a commercial to star 1989 award winner Coach Billy Curry. The commercial ran twice during the first half of the 2002 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and a short format opened the half time ceremony presentation. The commercial was television the following five years raising significant brand awareness.
